In 2017 there will be a Miss India shift. The competition to represent the country in the Miss World pageant has changed some of its requirements, and its format.
The minimum height requirement has now been lowered to 5’5” and, the pageant swimwear competition has been eliminated.
Auditions will be held in all thirty states this year (including the capital). The top three place finishers from each state shall then attend the state zonal crowning. Each zone shall be led by celebrity mentors as follows:
North Zone – Zonal crowning in Delhi. Celebrity mentor is Neha Dhupia.
Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Delhi.
South Zone – Zonal crowning in Bengaluru. Celebrity mentor is Parvathy Omanakuttan
Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
West Zone – Zonal crowning in Pune. Celebrity mentor is Waluscha De Sousa
Gujarat, Rajasthan, Goa and Maharashtra)
East Zone – Zonal crowning in Kolkota. Celebrity mentor is Dipannita Sharma
Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal and Sikkim.
A grand finale competition shall be held in Mumbai in June. Al the previous state winners will get to represent their state.
The event for the fifth year running is sponsored by FBB Coloros Fenina, with auditions held in their Big Bazaar locations and, aired on Colors. FBB has also partnered up to be the title sponsor of the pageant. with the objective of becoming the preferred fashion brands of India.
